FYP v6.0

Finally, the hard cover of my FYP thesis is born, after spending almost 10 months of research.

Again, take this opportunity to thanks and appreciation to all the parties who have been directly and indirectly supportive to this final year project.

FYP Progress v5.0

Finally, past up the most important thing of my 4 years study in University. The mentioned most important thing is, the Final Year Project (FYP) thesis.  

Thanks so much for my supervisor that help me a lot at the last day before the thesis submission. What is happen before the day of submission? Ha ha, let's me share with you all. Me, and my partner for this project staying whole night together with my supervisor at his room to edit the final thesis till morning 7.30am. Really a big thank you to him that help us edit the sentence and grammar error of the thesis. He also give a lot guide on conclusion, result and discussion, and introduction for our thesis.

Submitted the first draft of soft cover copy, and the next step is to editing the final thesis for the hard cover printing after 2 weeks of the FYP part 2 presentation. 

This 2 days really make my mind thinking and worrying about the FYP !

FYP Progress v4.0

Week 3 of my last semester, today went to LAB to do the precipitation process for my FYP. Stay whole day inside the LAB with wearing smock and wear the mask with glove.

Me and my partner not actually know how to do it, but luckily leeping give us some guide and explanation. Beside that chienhan and elaine stay whole day too at the lab for their FYP and at the same time give us guide & help. Thanks you so much. Last is thumb up to Burnett that give us a lot encourage and support.

At last we manage to produce the nano-particle, hopefully this sample will able to make our magnetic colloid thin films. 

   

FYP Progress v3.0

Finally complete my final year project part 1 presentation, After preparing the slide for almost 3 days. What I can say to my presentation is not so good and not so bad. But I still not satisfy with my presentation skill that not enough confident.

The presentation moderator is good, cause he is not shoot me with any question. Hopefully he is satisfy with the way of my presentation, and understand part of our project.

Anyway just a thanks you to my group-mate and the supervisor, that help each others.

Part 2 of the FYP will moving on, hopefully can complete it soon.

FYP Progress v2.0

Finally, after almost one month of ordering the material for my final year project, today I receive the material from their delivery.

The material is:

Co Nanopowder, Carbon Coated, Magnetic (500mg)

Price: RM 452.50

When I get the parcel from the deliverer, than I open it up. The first thing make me surprising is only a little thing of powder that cost RM 452.50

Only a small bottle only, and the powder is very very little

Now I just realize that when the technology is more sophisticate, the cost is more higher. Cause this powder is in nano-scale. Where it is 50nm size when view in TEM

Hope that this powder can help me to make the colloid for the next progress of my FYP

This is a equipment for Hall Effect Measurement. The sample
will attach between the black magnet. Then will using the
computer that connect to this equipment for doing the Hall
effect measurement result.

This is my current FYP progress.
Will update the progress again :)

FYP Part1 Presentation Postpone

Great..... great........great !!!

Finally we got the news say that the FYP part1 presentation had been postpone to next trimester around week 1 or week 2.

This mean I can relax a bit and still got time to prepare my Assignment + Final Exam.

Even thought the FYP part1 is nothing much, just that we need to prepare the slide, and present what actually we study and research about regarding our Title. Beside that we also need to present what will we do at the FYP part2, to complete all the project. FYP part1 is something like a propose a thing that we going to done.

Anyway, hope that all going well...... :p

Things Need to Be Done

Week 4 is coming, what ?? So fast ?

My FYP still not yet start anything, my supervisor keep asking me to study..... study and study.

Beside that he also ask me to prepare some of the final thesis, that going to be submit at the end of the FYP part 2.

Thing I need to be done onward till final exam:

17 November 2009 Attend LAB AFT1

- - -> The report should be submit within 10 days

19 November 2009 Industrial Training Program (ITP) presentation

- - -> The presentation slide I still not yet prepare...... huh!

20 November 2009 FYP thesis that going to prepare and submit to supervisor for checking

- - -> At least 12 pages

25 November 2009 Mid-Term test } Advance Fabrication Technology

- - -> Chapter 1,2,3 & I'm still lepaking and hanging around....... "kao lat"

1 December 2009 LAB AFT2

- - -> The report should be submit within 10 days

5 December 2009 > Time to cool down my self, attend MMU Swim Club Sunway Lagoon Trip

- - - -> haha...... :p

Week 7 of this semester, FYP part1 presentation

21 December 2009 > Final Exam week

27 December 2009 onward, holiday for 3 weeks

My Final Year Project Title

Title : Hall Effect Measurements of the Thin Films Coated with Colloidal Magnetic Particles

Supervisor : DR. Lim Weng Lee

Objective : To investigate the Hall effect in thin films coated with colloidal magnetic particles

Description :

A colloid is basically a chemical mixture in which one type of substance is dispersed almost evenly throughout other substances. In this project, metallic films or non-magnetic semiconducting thin films are coated with colloidal magnetic particles from ferrofluids (or other Ni/Co-based aqueous solution) by using a spinner. The surfactants such as Tetramethylammonium hydroxide or soy lecithin will be used to prepare the films in oder to avoid agglomeration of particles. A procedure to prepare the films with various densities of colloidal magnetic particles will be conducted and the Hall effect measurement on those films will be performed to study their magnetic properties.

Remarks :

Student will learn to handle wet chemicals, spin-coating, curing, and Hall Effect setup. The students are expected to be very vigilant and careful in carrying out laboratory work.
